Manchester United have been given the green light in their pursuit of Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller who has also expressed interest in moving to the English club.
As reported by Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, the German has grown frustrated of his lack of playing time under Carlo Ancelotti and will prefer a move to Old Trafford in order to get more game time.
Muller moved through the ranks at Allianz Arena and has been one of their key players since 2009 but he lost his place in the first team since the arrival of Ancelotti who preferred Robert Lewandowski ahead of him, and has been limited to just 25 appearances, managing just five goals in all competitions this season.
United boss Jose Mourinho is believed to be an admirer of the 27-year-old and has made repeated attempts to sign him in the past, the recent being the £85 million bid which was rejected by the Bavarians in the summer of 2016 before signing Paul Pogba from Juventus.
But as per the report from the Spanish media, the German World Cup winner now wants a move away from the Bundesliga champions with Old Trafford his preferred destination.
Manchester United are also interested in Atletico Madrid striker Antonio Griezmann who has been on their radar all season.
It will be interesting to see who United go for between the two and if Muller would force a move to Man United at the end of the season if a reasonable offer is made.
However, Muller remains a more possible option than Griezmann who has reiterated that he will join the Premier League club only if they qualify for the Champions League next season.
Muller has scored 157 goals for Bayern Munich since breaking into the first team and has won the Champions League, Bundesliga titles and the German league cup with them.
