Chelsea were thumped 3-0 last night at the Stadio Olimpico by Seria A giants Roma and the fans of the club have blamed their woes on the absence of French midfielder N’golo Kante, who could not be featured as he was not 100percent fit for the game.
Kante has been out of action since the start of this month through a hamstring injury he picked up while starring for the Les Blue in their World Cup qualifier – he has missed three Premier League matches but he was back in full training ahead of the game against Roma.
Fans raised concerns over the absence of the star but Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed that but for his lack of fitness, he would have played against Roma.
“Kante obviously is the type of player who is very difficult to leave out,” Conte said.
“He just felt he was not 100 per cent and after a big injury I think it’s not right to push the player.
“The player must feel the right feeling and then to play. Also if he risks another injury it’s a disaster for us.”
To say the least, Conte was right to have left out the marksman out of the game last night to avoid a setback. Many have argued that Kante would have been the difference for the Blues but he cannot be the 11 players on the pitch.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have a tough Premier league game to play against Manchester United this weekend. Kante is most likely play as they will look to turn their fortunes this time around.
