Luke Shaw could turn out to be the best left-back in the world after enduring a difficult start to his career at Old Trafford last season.
Shaw was bathed with plenty of criticisms by boss Jose Mourinho at the tag end of last season, nipping any chances of getting a starting role this season.
Mourinho juggled the idea of playing Shaw who has been hit by harsh words from him, but given the limited options available, he had to give the former Southampton player a chance.
And since shooting to top fitness, Shaw has produced a convincing performance, including scoring a winner in the Premier League for United.
United legend Paul Scholes believes the youngster can turn into one of the best left-back in the world.
But he tied the chances of that happening, if Shaw gets to play regularly. However, it is unsure whether Mou will continue to feature the England international.
“I especially have thought over the last couple of years he could easily be the best left-back in the world,” Scholes told BT Sport.
“I think the big thing he is getting now is games.
“He’s had a good run of, what, seven or eight games on the trot without injury.
“He’s a lad who needs fitness, he needs to be playing every week.
“I think he will improve and hopefully he will have a good season.”
January transfer window is near and Mourinho will be shopping for players in his backline after United were fed with disappointed following botched deals.
