“Why i sanctioned a Man United deal for Fred” – Jose Mourinho reveals

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed why he opted to sign Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos (Fred) from Shakhtar Donetsk, according to reports…

Fred to Man United has dragged on since the start of the world as United signaled interest in the midfielder. Nonetheless, United fans are now grinning from ear to ear after the club’s official website revealed that the 25-year-old star is officially a Red Devil.

He signed a five year contract with Manchester United with a clause that could see United extend the deal by a further year after successfully undergoing medicals. The agreement between both clubs is reported to be in the region of £52.5m.

Speaking after the confirmation of the deal, Mourinho revealed why he made a move for the player.

“Fred will complement our other midfielders’ qualities, which we need; his creative brain and passing vision will give us another dimension to our game. I am very happy he is joining our club and I believe our players know how important he can be in our team.”

Michael Carrick decided to call time on his spell with United and that opened up a space for another midfielder. The Red Devils already have a star studded midfield but Fred will bring to bare the creativity that is lacking in the midfield of United.

A midfield trio of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Fred should be able to keep things tight in the middle of the pack, while offering threats in attack creatively.

The star was also on the radar of Manchester City but they have been forced to go for Jorginho.
