German midfielder Emre Can completed a switch from Liverpool to Juventus on Thursday and the star has revealed why he opted against signing a new deal with the Reds, per reports.
Can arrived Turin yesterday for medical with Juventus, who announced the capture of the signing for long term.
Can joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2014 but since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp for the side in 2015, he has found it difficult to stake a claim for the first team of the German tactcian.
The 24-year-old midfielder ran down his contract but rebuffed offers made for him by the Reds. He was heavily linked with a move to Juventus since last summer but he reportedly agreed to join the Seria A side in January albeit verbally.
He put pen to paper on a four year deal with the Old Lady as a free agent, and reports reveal that they paid an additional €16 million for his services.
Following the confirmation of the deal, Can has revealed why a completed the move, taking a sly dig at Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
“It’s a wonderful day for me, it is one of the biggest days of my life,” Can told Juventus’ official website.
“Of course you can see straight away how big the club is. Juventus is a huge club, I followed the team since I was young.
“Juventus is a team who wins titles and that’s what I want and that’s why we fit very good together.”
Liverpool have signed on Fabinho and Naby Keita as they look to build on their impressive season. Can will certainly not be missed.
