Chelsea have signed Bundesliga star and USA International Christian Pulisic for €64m (58 million pounds) from German outfit Borussia Dortmund.
However, Dortmund will hold on to the 20-year-old for the rest of the season.
It is understood Chelsea will not bring Pulisic to Stamford Bridge in January until next season. The Blues have loaned the forward back to Dortmund, who are sitting on a six point cushion, ahead of Bayern Munich.
Chelsea pipped the rest of the pack chasing after the star to make Pulisic’s deal the first transfer transaction in the Premier League to break through.
Originally, Pulisic was linked with a move to join Liverpool and remould his relationship with former boss Jurgen Klopp. The Blues were said to have entered the fray with north Londoners Arsenal also credited with interest.
The lucrative bid was the third highest paid for a Bundesliga play after Ousmane Dembele’s £155m to Barcelona and Manchester City £55m paid for Wolfsburg’s Kevin de Bruyne, and topped the 20 million pounds fee paid or USA international John Brooks in 2017.
After completing the move, Pulisic laid bare his delight.
#Pulisic on #cfc move: “In summer I move on to Chelsea and to a new competition, the English Premier League. It’s a privilege to have signed for such a legendary club and I look forward to working hard towards being a contributor to their team of world class players.”
