Borussia Dortmund forward Christian Pulisic is expected to come through this summer for Chelsea, however eyebrows have been raised over the 60 million pounds splashed on the US international.
Pulisic’s arrival means Callum Hudson-Odoi who added another goal to his previous five- goal tally for Chelsea in all competitions could be starved of first team opportunity.
BT pundit Owen Hargreaves threw a few jibes at Chelsea, playing down the talks about how effective Pulisic is compared to Hudson-Odoi.
You couldn’t get any more better than this from a youngster who’s trying to clamber from a difficult spot.
Hargreaves said: “But they have just spent £50m, £60m on Pulisic. There is no way he is a better player than Hudson-Odoi, not in a million years.”
Hargreaves believes he should be given more starts, but begged and urged the youngster to seek more experience by playing abroad on loan if the opportunities are not coming.
“It doesn’t seem like the opportunities are there. Go and play somewhere else at least for a year on loan and come back at 19 into the first team.”
Though fans have called that the Englishman should be played more regularly after nearly losing him to Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich in January, Sarri is still not convinced about putting him out there.
He said: “Hudson-Odoi is a very important young player but I think he is 18 and he needs to improve…At the moment his focus has to be to improve at 18. He will be at the top when he is 22, 23 like the other players.”
