Chelsea inflicted Manchester City with their first Premier League defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with efforts from N’golo Kante and David Luiz doing the damage on the Citizens.
Prior before the clash City led the charge. They were three points adrift second placed Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola’s side were walloped by a surprising defeat. A late first half effort for Kante gave the Blues the lead. Luiz doubled the Blues advantage 18 minutes after the hour mark as Chelsea cruised in style, and elegant thread as the first team to slice up Guardiola’s side this term.
Chelsea are in fourth place following a 2-0 win from Spurs over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday night.
However, that has not ruled out their chances of winning the Premier League this summer.
And now City boss Guardiola believes they are at an “exceptional” position to win the Premier League after doing so in an appealing fashion in 2016 under Antonio Conte.
Guardiola rubbed out Sarri’s statement that said the Blues are currently off the paces for the title challenge, putting Chelsea on the pedestal.
“They are an exceptional team, Chelsea…so they are a side to be there. I don’t have doubts.” Guardiola said.
