What Unai Emery told Matteo Guendouzi after Red Card against Blackpool

The youngster was red carded during a Carabao Cup fixture against Blackpool at the Emirates Stadium, and Unai Emery’s words to him after the incidence have been revealed.

The 19 year old French midfielder has been in incredible form for the Gunners this season having adapted well to English football since his summer move from Lorient.

Despite his amazing start to life in the country, Guendouzi picked up a second yellow card in the Carabao fixture versus Blackpool earning him a red card for his actions. While Arsenal won the game 2-1, the incidence still marred the occasion as they face tougher opponents subsequently in the season, especially Liverpool at the weekend.

Guendouzi’s red card means he will have to sit out the Gunners English Premier League game against Liverpool at the Anfield on Saturday. Despite missing such a huge game, the Arsenal boss Unai Emery has told the French youngster not to be disturbed ad to continue playing his football the way he knows it.

The Spanish manager told journalists “he is playing well …with a spirit. Competitive.” The manager further commented that he had spoken with the player and told him that the red card was just an occurrence like every other.

When asked for his opining regarding the fact that the youngster would be missing such a big match against the Reds, Emery said it is “football” noting that things can be negative at one point and positive the next minute.
