Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has revealed what Unai Emery said to the team that inspired their win over rivals Tottenham Hotspurs, according to reports.
In a very thrilling encounter, Arsenal took to the lead through an Aubameyang penalty but their lead was short-lived with two goals from Dier and Kane to put Arsenal behind during half time.
Arsenal returned in the second and fought hard to thump the London club 4-2, with second half goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Man of the match Lucas Torreira.
Torreira who was signed from Sampdoria in the summer has now won three man of the match awards in his last four games, and he has earned a lot of plaudits from pundits and fans.
Speaking after the game against Tottenham, Torreira revealed what Emery said to them that spurred them to winning the clash.
Torreira told ESPN, “[Emery told us] to be calm, to continue playing because there were 45 more minutes left, that we keep attacking because obviously in the second half we were going to find more spaces. In fact, it happened and we scored the goals at key moments.”
“In the first half we started very strong, pressing very high, sometimes we managed to steal the ball very high we had many chances after scoring the first goal.
“Then, for different reasons, because of football too, they scored two goals and went ahead.
“In the second half, we made some changes. The players who came on from the bench did very well. We listened to the manager and we improved many things. That worked for us to get the victory.”
The Gunners are now in fourth place on the table and they have a tough game against Manchester United on Wednesday.
