Anthony Martial left the rest of the Man United squad currently on their pre-season tour in the States to witness the birth of his son with partner Melanie Da Cruz. While that has generated mixed reactions from fans and the club, the French forward reportedly told his teammates that he will not be back before the end of their tour, this is according to reports.
Martial’s agent revealed that the forward desires to call time on his spell with the Red Devils and his relationship with Jose Mourinho has severed in recent times. However, Mourinho has revealed that the star is in his plans for the coming season.
Man United drew with AC Milan 1-1 in their pre-season game in LA and Mourinho revealed that he was aware that the player will be the trip two days earlier. Nonetheless, his unprecedented departure has left the frontline of the side threadbare.
United will play Leicester City in the Premier league opener only a fortnight from now and they are yet without Romelu Lukaku, Marcos Rashford and Jesse Lingard, who did very well with their countries in the just concluded World Cup.
And according to the Times via the Metro, Mourinho told his teammates that he will not rejoin them on the tour.
The star is wary of his place in the squad of United and he knows he is unlikely going to have a place in the squad next season.
He has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich, Tottenham and Chelsea – and there are speculations that he may never lace his boots for Man United.
