Liverpool fans have increasingly become dismayed at the dearth of transfer activities at the club despite the obvious need for new signings.
The Reds have spent far less than his capital rivals in this transfer window – Mohamed Salah joined in a club record deal, while Dominic Solanke joined on a free transfer before Andrew Robertson joined for a paltry transfer fee.
However, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has assured the fans of the club that the Reds are still in the transfer market and some signings will be made before the close of the transfer window, this report is according to Goal.
The Reds are on the verge of returning to Champions League football but they need to have at least two quality teams to be able to cope with the demands of all the competitions they’ll feature in.
Klopp confirmed that they are currently in talks to add more bodies to their relatively thin squad.
“We are still working on all parts.
“We are in talks and we work on all parts of the game. The squad at the moment is not too wide for a lot of games. That’s it.”
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk and they are likely to step up the chase of the player given that the defence is leaky. The Reds conceded three goals in their League opener against Watford on Saturday and the defensive frailties is more apparent in set-pieces.
Klopp added: “We have to defend better.
“Of course we know it’s an important thing. I don’t feel comfortable but I know what to do.
“We got things wrong and what do I want to do to sort it? Buy a new player in that position? I am not really sure if it makes sense. We have to work on it because we did well in pre-season in this situation.”
While the Reds are looking to add more bodies to their squad, they could as well lose Philippe Coutinho, who reported handed a transfer request to the club last Friday.
