Virgil Van Dijk to Liverpool, Reds insider reveals deal will be completed

Liverpool fans have been grinning from ear to ear after Barcelona accepted Paris Saint Germain whopping bid for Neymar. The Blaugrana are left with no choice than to bolster their squad this summer and they have sounded out Philippe Coutinho as their main target.

While Liverpool may have to start looking for a replacement for Coutinho, they have an eye of Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk and former Liverpool player  Phil Thompson believes the Reds will sign him before the close of the window, reports the Express.

Klopp has already bolstered his squad this season but he has been unable to lure find a top-notch centre-back in the mould of Van Dijk. The Reds have been turned down after making advances for the defender but light may be at the end of the tunnel after all.

Jurgen Klopp is short of options in the centre-back position and he is keen to add Van Dijk to his squad to partner either Dejan Lovren or Joel Matip at the heart of the Reds defence. Van Dijk was left out of the pre-season squad of the Saints as he wants out of the club.

Former Liverpool star Thompson reckons that Liverpool could sign 26-year-old before the window is slammed shut.

“I think the Van Dijk deal will still happen and I think Dominic Solanke was a fantastic steal from Chelsea,” Thompson told Sky Sports.

“I hope he gets the game time he’s joined for.”

Since the signing of Andrew Roberto, the Reds have seen their transfer activities stalled over the inflated nature of the transfer window but Klopp is not relent as he is looking to bring back the glory days for the Anfield giants.
