Arsenal has managed to pick up the paces from where they left off in the Premier League in the previous half. But they have been completely gutted this better half, falling out of the top four after fluffing chances at Wembley against north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Unai Emery has received a pat on the back in what is believed to be a compensation for their inability to buy top signings. The Spaniard will finally be able to brag real good when the summer window is here. Reports floating around say Gunners board are ready to back Emery this time in getting players on his summer list.
One of them is Italian star Cengiz Ünder. The Turkey international was the meat of transfer talks in January. Gunners were heavily linked with the powerful midfielder, but had to take their glance off of him because they were cash-strapped.
But this time around, Emery has the backing of the Arsenal hierarchy and had been given the nod to deep his toe into the summer market.
Gunners were handicapped in January, limited to make loan signing after several haggles.
While that is in the running, Arsenal will hope they can lure Roma’s sporting director Monchi away from the club. If it pulls through for them, they can only hope the talented Monchi can bring Ünder, who has been out of action since January to the Emirates.
