Unai Emery sanction Arsenal deal for £36m midfielder as replacement for Ramsey

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has asked the club to sign France and Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, this report is according to the Metro.

The Gunners are looking for a player they would sign in the stead of Aaron Ramsey and Aouar tickles the fancy of Emery. Ramsey stalled over signing a new deal with Arsenal before the club withdrew their offer for him. He is expected to leave in January or next summer.

Aouar broke into the first team of Lyon in the penultimate season and he has continued to impress across various positions in midfield. He has found the back of the net in five Ligue 1 games this term and has three assists to his name in the Champions League.

Chelsea and Manchester City have been mentioned as suitors for the 20-year-old star but it is Arsenal who are believed to be front runners for his signature. Emery has know the talented midfielder from his days in the French League.

He is valued at £36m but Lyon are unlikely going to allow the star leave midway through the season. However, the Gunners are likely to make a move for him as Emery is a huge fan.

The player had earlier revealed in the season that he would love to play for Man City because of Pep Guardiola.

‘He’s a fascinating coach with convictions and motivation, a coach who knows what he wants. ‘We all share the same views about football, but I also share his opinions and the way he plays with his team. So it would be nice to be coached by someone like him.’
