Arsenal boss Unai Emery has admitted his interest in former Gunners striker Alexis Sanchez.
Emery says he was keened on bringing the prolific Chilean striker to Parc de Princes during his spell as Paris Saint-Germain manager.
“We thought he could help us,” said the Arsenal manager whose side lost to Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup tonight.
United have won their last seven matches in a spin this campaign since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took the helm.
A former Sevilla boss Emery, admits he was hopeful his side can stop United, following their sudden quick rise that’s caused everyone to be gobsmacked. Alas, Arsenal were thrashed at the Emirates.
Gunners pipped a much stronger Chelsea side in the Premier League 2-0, however Emery had warned his side will need to work harder in their FA Cup clash with Man United, after Solskjaer named Sanchez in his starting XI.
Emery who is wary of the Chilean and his abilities said, “but if he plays, we need to work to stop him because he is a very good player. Now, this team is different. I don’t know why. They are playing with more confidence.”
