Manchester United returned to the Champions League after winning the Europa League last season and that explained why Jose Mourinho has been making frantic efforts in bringing top-class players to the club.
The Red Devils will compete in four competitions next season and they have already signed Romelu Lukaku from Everton and Victor Lindelof from Benfica, and Mourinho is still hunting for more.
The Portuguese, last season, had hinted about the areas he wants to bolster and that includes the midfield and attacking positions which the United boss has always handled with much reverence.
Signing Tottenham’s Eric Dier and Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic is enough to bring United’s activities to a close this summer transfer market.
Perisic can play as an attacking midfielder, operates on the flanks and as a second striker. And with the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, there is vacuum that needs to be filled in United’s final third.
Perisic will bring more threat to United’s attack as he fits in perfectly into the Red Devil’s attacking style with his creativity, pace and pass. He scores goals and can also create chances for his team-mate.
Likewise bringing Eric Dier to the Old Trafford fold will strengthen United’s midfield. His defensive side shines more than the attacking part of him, and that would free up Paul Pogba to contribute more to the attack than he did last season.
Dier is defensively solid, controls the midfield, shut down spaces and block off passes, and that can be seen from the fluidity with which Tottenham’s attack operated in the last season.
Signing the two players will make United a complete team.
