Chelsea have been actively involved in the transfer market this summer and have signed four players already.
But Antonio Conte is not resting on his laurels to ensure that he has a well bolstered squad as the season resumes in the next few days. The Blues won the Premier League and returned to the Champions League, and Conte is aware of the need for squad rotation with midweek matches now added.
Chelsea have already spent around £140m to sign Antonio Rudiger, Alvaro Morata and Tiemoue Bakayoko but Conte still wants to add more depth to his squad and is keen on signing Inter Milan winger Antonio Candreva and Juventus’ Alex Sandro.
In the light of that we look at the two players that may eventually join Morata at Stamford Bridge
Conte is desperate to have someone who can provide competition for Victor Moses at the right-wing and wants to sign Candreva as a result. The Italy international is versatile tactically as he can be deployed in different roles in the midfield. He can play in the central midfield as well as on either flank at the wing-back, though he is naturally right-footed. He is pacey, has good ball control and dribbling skill, and creates chances for his team-mates; no wonder Conte so much wants him.
However, his transfer to Chelsea hinges on Inter getting a replacement for him. The Italian club have been linked with Lazio winger Keita Balde as Cnadreva’s possible replacement.
Conte wants the Brazilian to compete with Marcus Alonso on the left-wing and also in hi three-man defence. But Juventus are not ready to part with him as he is first choice full-back on the left and have rejected Chelsea’s offers for him twice. Sandro can play as a left-back and as a wing-back on the left side.
