Unai Emery has injury crisis in his defence and ahead of the Gunners Europa League game against Sporting Lisbon, they will be without Nacho Monreal and Sokratis, according to reports.
Under Emery, Arsenal have had an unstable defence that conceded goals with reckless abandon earlier on in the season. We have conceded 14-goals in the league this term and the backline currently looks thin following the number of players on the sideline with injuries.
Monreal and Sokratis have been struggling with hamstring injuries. Although, they were said to have returned to full training, the medical team of the club have ruled them out of action against Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.
The players have resumed light training but they will not be risked instead eased into action. Maitland-Niles or Kolasinac would fit into the left back position in the stead of Monreal while Holding could be featured at the heart of our defence.
Meanwhile, Dinos Mavropanos, Laurent Koscielny and Mohamed Elneny are all sidelined with injuries and will not back before the international break.
Emery will be hoping to have majority of his key players fit for the season ahead as we get to the peak of the Premier League.
