Two areas Chelsea must strengthen in the summer

Just in his first season, Antonio Conte has taken the Premier League by storm – leaving everyone in sureness of his tactical prowess on the sidelines from the start of the season. The Blues are currently 10-points clear off on top of the EPL table with a semifinal game against Tottenham in the English FA Cup.

Antonio Conte inherited a squad built by Jose Mourinho but he tweaked the team’s formation to become more formidable with the signings of Ngolo Kante, and he brought back David Luis and Victor Moses to Stamford Bridge among other new signings.

Under Conte, Chelsea have lost only three Premier League games and they are on course to clinch the title for the fifth time. However, pundits have claimed that Chelsea’s good run of form could be attributed the less competitions they have featured in, hence, they’ve had less fatigue.

We examine two areas Conte must strengthen next season in other to remain competitive.

Chelsea’s defense in hinged on a style where by they are left with three defenders when attack and five when defending. David Luis has been able to successfully martial that line with Cahill also doing very well. Azpilicueta is a natural wing back and Conte must look for tough-tackling centre back to feature that his stead.

Chelsea have conceded the list goals with Tottenham in the Premier League but they should be looking to improve upon what is already formidable defensive unit.

Although Mitchy Batshuayi was signed in the summer, he’s hardly featured for the Stamford brigde outfit. Diego Costa is the only reliable striker for the Blues at the moment but he is wanted in China and there is no telling if the Brazilian will favour a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Conte must indulge his scouts in order to secure the services of a potent striker in the summer.
