Transfer news roundup: Gerard & Lampard’s message to Conte; Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool

The Premier League returns this week and Arsenal got the better of the Premier League champions Chelsea in the community Shield match but we take a look at the happenings in the transfer front.

Chelsea

The Blues have already bolstered their squad ahead of the upcoming season but they are yet heavily linked with a move for some players.

Lampard

The former Chelsea star has called on Antonio Conte to sign at least two more players before the close of the transfer window, this he said after the Gunners thumped Chelsea to win the CS.

“It’s a lot to ask Cesc Fabregas against big teams in a difficult game to patrol as one of the two, and get on the ball to affect games. That’s a lot to ask.

“Maybe that would relieve Cesc to go further forward and they need cover on the wing-back roles.

“The wing-backs, if that’s what they’ve got, they’re going to play so many games this year and they need more.”

Van Dijk

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Dutch defender but Chelsea are also in the running for the player and reports claim the Saint would prefer selling the 26-year-old centre back to the Premier League Champions,.

However, another report claims that the player is yet to hand in a transfer quest to the Saints but he prefers a move to Liverpool. Van Dijk is sure to get more playing time with the Reds.

Gareth Bale

Chelsea have emerged favourite to sign Man United transfer target Gareth Bale according to report.

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is willing to accept €100m to let the player leave and Chelsea have now joined Man United in his chase.

Steven Gerrard

The the former Liverpool man has made bare his dissatisfaction over Antonio Conte’s sale of Chelsea youngsters.

Speaking on BT Sport after Chelsea’s Community Shield loss to Arsenal, Gerrard said: “You can’t have any sympathy with Chelsea.

“They bring four players in, one of those is a goalkeeper, and they let seven or eight go.

“Nathaniel Chalobah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Nathan Ake – for me, all of those are good enough to be in Chelsea’s squad.

“Unless people above Conte are making decisions and selling players without his permission, that’s the only way I can see it.”

Man United

Andres Gomes

Barcelona’s Andres Gomas has emerged as the Red Devil’s latest target and report according to Marca claim an offer of €35million (£31.6m) will see the deal done.

Liverpool

Philippe Coutinho

“Player has agreement with FCB so Catalans think they can convince LFC but not by Tuesday as Catalan press announced today #chessgame

“From the negotiation table (close to FCB): never say never. Pressure will continue from FCB. LFC say they can handle it.”
