Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his mark in his debut Premier League season for Man United after he led the club to a Europa League title.
Despite being 35, the Swedish striker maintained he high stock last term but his barnstorming season was scuppered after he sustained a knee injury in the Red Devils semi-final Europa game against Anderlecht. Zlatan was ruled out of the game until next year and United released the player, who joined them on a free transfer.
Ibrahimovic is currently recuperating from his injury at Man United Carringhton training ground and there are chances that he’ll return ahead of schedule, and he has been tipped to continue lacing his boots for the Old Trafford Landlords. However, reports have indicated that Man United could be usurped to the player’s signature by AC Milan, this is according to report.
AC Milan have been linked with a plethora of strikers including Chelsea’s Diego Costa, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang as well as Andrea Belotti. Confirming Milan’s interest in Ibrahimovic, general manager of AC Milan general Marco Fassone refused to rule out a possible move of the Swede.
“We’re not in any rush and we are observing many players,” he told Mediaset.
“Many names have already been mentioned, but there is no urgency from us. Up to now, I have not said no to any name, so I am not going to say no to [Falcao and Ibrahimovic] either.
“They are potential candidates, even if we are closer to some and further away from others. We only have one bullet to fire and we don’t want to miss the target.”
Man United have signed on Romelu Lukaku to replace Zlatan but they could still do with a back up striker. Ibrahimovic ended last season as top scorer for Man United, as he scored 28 goals in all competitions.
