Arsenal new boy Henrikh Mkhitryan has revealed the three reasons that motivated him to snub Manchester United for Arsenal, according to report.
Mkhi joined Arsenal in the January transfer window as part of the deal that saw the Gunners contract rebel Alexis Sanchez swapped the Emirates for the Theatre of Dreams.
Since completing the move, Mkhi has played in three games for the Gunners, bagging three assists but he was tongue-lashed for putting up an dispirited show-up against Tottenham last weekend.
At Manchester United, Mkhi started the season brightly as he was part of the first team of Jose Mourinho but the Armenian forward saw his stock dropped following strings of unimpressive performance and he was openly criticised by United’s coach.
There was a general conclusion that Mkhi left Manchester United after growing frustrated with life at Old Trafford but the star has revealed that he left on the basis of playing regularly, his age and the fear of hanging his boots early.
“Of course sometimes you need some refreshing,” he told ESPN Brasil.
“And I think this was the best moment for me, because there were a few things that didn’t work out in Manchester.
“Because I was 29 years old, I wanted to play more, because I know that in a few years time I’ll be able to end my football career, and it’s very important for me to make my name bigger.
“That’s why, maybe, it was the best moment, and the best time to change something and to get a new challenge, a new club, and start everything from zero.
“I’ve learned a lot from my previous two managers, Klopp and Mourinho, and I want to learn more from Arsene Wenger as well.
“And it’s too early to compare them to each other, I still need time to work with Arsene Wenger. Of course from the time being here I’ve learned a lot already, and I want to learn more.”
Arsenal will resume hostilities in the Europa League against Swede side Ostersund on Thursday but despite featuring for Manchester United in the Champions League, Mkhi will play for the Gunners. However, he will wear the 77 squad no as Sanchez had won the no.7 for Arsenal in the same competition.
