Anthony Martial has penned a new contract with United which will see him remain in the club until 2024, with an option to extend.
The French attacker had been close to leaving Old Trafford with Real Madrid said to be keen on signing the disgruntled star.
Martial will pocket a whopping sum of 250,000-a-week according to Sky Sports News.
Talks over his extension had dragged so wide, Martial’s camp had to demand United let him go. The youngster had a horrible campaign under former boss Jose Mourinho and the Portuguese meted out harsh criticisms on the attacker, hammering hard on his mistakes and the level of trust between them was completely severed.
Martial’s agent Phillippe Lamboley had decried about the treatment of his player back then in July, saying that the club had not valued the services of the player.
Nonetheless, Martial has blossomed well under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since the former United striker took charge at the helm following Mourinho’s departure.
Martial has started all games under Solskjaer this campaign, and has a goal tally of 8 goals, in 22 appearances this season, so far.
On his new contract, Martial said: “I am loving my time at this club. From the day I joined I have been made to feel part of the United family…”
He added:”I would like to thank Ole and his coaching staff for their belief in me and for helping me to take my game to the next level.
“This club is all about winning trophies and I am sure the next piece of silverware is not that far away.”
