The Arsenal fanbase have continuously been thrown into fanfare by new signing Lucas Torreira, who has been impressive whenever he’s called upon to play.
The Uruguayan has been in barnstorming form from the start of the season and Nigel Winterburn has claimed to know the secret of the diminutive midfield marksman, per reports.
He joined Arsenal from Sampdoria in the summer in a £26.4m and was eased into action by Unai Emery.
Emery has deployed the star in his favourite position, sitting in front of the defence, and he has been able to adequately shield the back four of the Gunners.
He was man of the match over last weekend when Arsenal drew Liverpool in a thrilling encounter.
And now, according to Winderburn, it is the simplicity of Torreira’s game that makes him very efficient for the Gunners.
He keeps the game very, very simple but it’s so effective.
“I said once we signed him that if he could perform to the level we’d been watching him play at, he would be a fantastic addition to the squad.
“When I talk about Torreira, I say to people ‘Don’t only watch when he’s got the ball, take a few seconds when the ball comes through him or is in another part of the pitch, have a little glance at what he’s doing’.
“He gets the ball, he gives it, he moves it on quickly either forward or sideways. He told LOVE SPORT Radio
“But then he anticipates that it might be coming back to him or they might lose the ball and he puts himself in the hole where he thinks the ball might arrive again.”
Arsenal will take on Sportin Lisbon in the Europa Cup before taking on Wolves in the Premier League.
