The perfect defender that can make Arsenal title contenders again identified

Arsenal series of successive wins came to an end when a late effort from Southampton saw them plunged three points down the Premier League log, behind Chelsea.

The Gunners have been a resilient side under Unai Emery this term since he was given the reins of the outfit, following Wenger’s departure in the summer.

Despite beefing things up at the back and shaking up a few things at the club, the Gunners still need a further boost at the back.

England international Reece Oxford checks well in all the boxes for the Gunners.

Oxford broke the scene when at 16-year-old, he was a signpost for greater achievements, but his career at West Ham is spotted with issues that threatens to sweep his efforts under the rug.

Oxford is a good defender, and this he showed during his successful spell at German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach last season, which helped raise his stock up.

His return back to Hammers has seen his performance stifled by his inability to break the ranks under Manuel Pellegrini this term.

It could force the defender out of the club, as reports are starting to suggest.

If Oxford is unable to pull of a brilliant return back to the team’s sheet, Arsenal should stoop him up. Playing under Emery will definitely bring out the best in the 20-year-old defender.
