While Arsene Wenger has failed to add a third signing to his squad, he has struggled to offload the players that are not in his plans for the future.
Lucas Perez has been on the transfer radar of La Liga club Deportivo Lacuruna and despite their offers for him, Arsenal have failed to accept it. However, there seem to be light at the end of the tunnel for the Spaniard as he is now on the cusp of completing switch to his former club, reports La Voz de Galicia.
Perez joined Arsenal last summer from Deportivo in a £17m deal but he managed just two starts in the Premier League and saw his stock fallen. It became clear to him that he was not in Arsene Wenger’s plan when his squad no was handed to Arsenal new boy Alexandre Lacazette but he’s told the Gunners that he wants out.
The agent of Perez had bemoaned Arsenal’s rebuff of Deportivo’s bid, claiming that the offers made for him by Deportivo was good enough.
“It’s a very reasonable offer for a player that Arsenal have devalued. But they have turned down the offer. So far, they have said ‘no’ to everything.
“Recently there had been another [offer] of €10m plus €2m in variables that they didn’t consider right and Depor then went up to €12m without variables and again they rejected it.” He told told La Voz de Galicia
latest report by the same media outlet has now revealed that the same agent has spoken with Arsene Wenger, informing him that the media has been misquoting him. Perez is now on the cusp of joining Deportivo albeit on a loan deal which is expected to include ‘numerous and variable clauses’,
Arsenal are used to inserting clauses in player’s contract that would eventually benefit them and we may not have to look too far as the Gunners are currently in talks with the directors of Besiktas over deal for former star Oguzhan Ozyakup.
Deportivo have made Perez a priority signing this season as he was pivotal to their squad in the penultimate season.
