Talks ongoing: Arsenal agree £20million transfer fee for classy centre-back

Arsenal are currently in talks with London rivals Crystal Palace over a deal that would see English centre-back Calum Chambers Switch the Emirates for Selhurst Park, according to reports.

Chambers joined Arsenal from Southampton in the summer of 2014 but he has failed to nick a place as a starter for the Gunners, playing bit-parts in various position. The Signing of Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding last summer saw him fell the selection perking order of Wenger and he was sent on loan to Middlesborough last season, and was unable to spare them from relegation.

He’s returned to Arsenal but reports by the Daily Star has indicated that his career with Arsenal could be coming to end as Frank De Boer is keen on snapping up a deal for him. Arsenal had rebuffed a  £16million offer for Chambers and they are holding out for a whopping  £20million fee according to the report.

Frank De Boer is also interested in the signing of Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho but the asking fee of  £30million seem to have put him off. He may be willing to meet the Gunners asking price since it is lower than the Red’s for their centre-back.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that a major clear out will occur in his team and Chambers appears to be one of the players to be axed.
