José Mourinho may be in a boatload of problems right now at United which threatens his position as the club’s manager, but he has been able to identify few of the club’s talents under his charge as the Red Devils senior team manager.
Tahith Chong, one of United academy product is hopeful he can get more games at senior level after earning a place in the Manchester club’s defeat to Juventus in the Champions League few weeks back.
United are through to the knockout stages of the competition, despite losing to Valencia this week.
Most reserved players never get a call up to big games, but Chong, who admitted he was surprised he got the nod of approval, said he was elated.
Chong admitted it was an “amazing experience” for him and there were no words to describe how he felt.
“I trained the day before but wasn’t too sure and then, obviously, I got the call so I rang my family and they were just happy as well. It was a proud moment for them as well after all the years I’ve worked, even in Holland and stuff like that. In pre-season, you’re playing friendlies but a Champions League game is completely different preparation. It’s still similar but a bit different because of how big the game is. So it was a different experience for me and a good one as well.” Said Chong.
After going up there, Chong reveals he will pull his socks higher so he can nail more spots in the Mourinho’s squad list.
