With the January transfer window coming thick and fast, the top Premier League clubs are ready to make offer for their targets.
According to emerging reports, Arsenal are weighing on a deal for Germany and Hertha BSC midfielder Arne Maier.
The midfielder who joined Hertha BSC from Ludwigsfelder FC in 2007 has impressed for this club this season. The 19-year-old star broke into the first team of Hertha in the penultimate season and despite his age, he has cemented a place in the first team of his club, playing in all their Bundesliga matches this term.
Arsenal have had their scout keeping tabs on the player but they are not the only club interested in signing the rising star. Man United have also being strongly linked with a move for the midfielder, reports the Sun.
Dubbed as the next Toni Kroos. Maier has been regular feature for the U-21 side of Germany. He has completed the most passes for his club this season and there are claims he would be invited to the German national team.
Arsenal and Man United currently have no urgent need of a midfielder but Maier is one player that would provide a good option in the midfield of any team.
He is valued at £30m and the Gunners head of recruitment Sven Mislintat could broker a deal for the player given the uncertainty still surrounding the future of Aaron Ramsey.
