Skysports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has revealed why Denis Suarez move to Arsenal is taking much time.
Suarez has seen his game time drastically reduce since the start of this season and he has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.
The Gunners boss Unai Emery suggested that the club are in the market to sign a defender and a player that can play from the wing, with Suarez said to be the latter.
Emery knows Saurez very well during his time at Sevilla in 2014-15 and he believes very well in the ability of the player.
However, Sheth spoke on on the Transfer Talk podcast, where he had this to say.
“Reports suggest that Barcelona do not want to let Suarez go, but he only has 18 months left on his contract.
“It’s such a dangerous time if you’re a player and if you’re a club managing that player.
“There’s no offer of a new [contract] as it stands, so this window is the time to maximise his transfer fee. It looks like this one could be a goer.”
“He fits the criteria that Emery was looking for, playing a position on the left or right wing.
“Our colleagues at Sky in Italy say a deal is close.
“Now Emery does know Suarez very well.
“Perhaps significantly, there was a picture of Ivan Rakitic and Denis Suarez on their way to the Getafe game [that Barca played] over the weekend, so Suarez did travel to the match on Sunday but he did not make the 18-man squad.”
