Arsenal stole a march on Tottenham over the signature of Matteo Guendouzi, this is according to reports.
Guendouzi joined Arsenal as one of the five players they signed in the summer and the youngster has seamlessly bedded into the team of Unai Emery.
He has featured in 18 league games for the Gunners this season. Although he has divided opinion with his quality, he has been tipped for a bright future.
With Mousa Dembele on the exit radar of Tottenham, the club have been linked with plethora of holding midfielders including Florian Grillitsch, Denis Zakaria, Tanguy N’Dombele and Sander Berge. However, Sky Sports have claimed that Guendouzi signed for Arsenal while their rivals were lurking to sign him.
The French midfield prodigy is not the only player Spurs missed out on, the report specifically mentioned Geoffrey Kondogbia, who joined Valencia.
Dembele is a quick, twinkle-toed, and powerful midfielder who breezes pass his markers and his impact for the Lilywhites is there to see whenever he is called upon to play.
The fact that Guendouzi plays regularly for Arsenal does not mean is good enough, we can attribute it to lack of personnel. However, he is one player of the future – he would not have joined Tottenham as a replacement for Dembele.
