Reports have indicated that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, is delighted that Armenian Arsenal forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan is struggling to find his footing at Arsenal.
Mkhitaryan was swapped with Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window after the aforementioned Chile International failed to sign a new deal with Arsenal.
Mkhi was made a makeweight for the deal as the Armenian forward failed to impress Jose Mourinho despite being handed several opportunity to shine. Mkhi was openly criticised by Jose Mourinho for failing to play to his expectation and he was perpetually left on the bench before the end of his spell at Old Trafford.
Since moving to Arsenal, Mkhi has provided three assists and he won the man of the match award last night as the Gunners thumped AC Milan in San Siro. Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez has scored only one goal for Man United since his move and he has been heavily criticised for not living up to his bidding.
Mkhi received tongue-lashes from the fans of Arsenal for their defeats against Manchester City and Brighton in the League and now Martin Keown has claimed that Mourinho is pleased with the poor form of Mkhi.
“We’ve talked about Ozil not doing a great deal but I’m sure Mourinho will be thinking he’s done a good deal out of Mkhitaryan because I’m sure we’d have seen more from Sanchez,” Keown told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“We’ve just not seen that fire from Mkhitaryan. He’s been quiet. He’s played in a wide position but I think he’d be best served more central.”
