Former Arsenal star Robert Pires has lavished plaudits on new signing Lucas Torreira and he has revealed why he loves the player.
Torreira joined Arsenal from Sampdoria in the summer after a £26million deal was brokered between both clubs and he has steadily won the heart of the club’s fanbase.
Following his late arrival at the start of the season, the Uruguayan was subjected to a bit-part role but it appears that he was won his place in the starting XI of the club.
And now, Pires has revealed why he loves the player and he went further to reveal why he is a top-notch footballer.
‘I love Lucas Torreira,’ said Pires,
‘When you play in his position you need to be a warrior, and he’s a warrior. ‘He likes to fight a good fight with the other players and technically he’s very good. ‘He has good ability with the ball, good vision and now I understand why Arsenal paid a lot of money for him. He’s a very good player.’
Arsenal lost their opening two games in the League but they have not taken their legs off the throttle since then – the North London club are on a way winning spree and they will be hoping to make it eight consecutive wins when they take on Qarabag in the league later today.
Emery is expected to rotate his squad tonight, with Torreira expected to be rested while Guendouzi and Elneny take the centre-stage of the game.
