Liverpool are currently torn in-between letting their most prized possession leave or keeping him despite the huge offers made to the Club.
Philippe Coutinho has been a subject of huge interest from Spanish giants Barcelona but Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard reveals that he has pleaded with Jurgen Klopp not to sell the Brazilian play maker, this is according to report.
Coutinho remains the best creative midfielder in the Premier League but Barcelona’s interest in the player has thrown his future at the club into a subject of speculation. The Blaugrana side have made two offers for the star and the latest was to the tune of £93.3million, which was thrown out by the Reds, per reports.
Nonetheless, despite the huge offers made for the star, Liverpool have refused to let their guards down with Klopp insisting that the player is not for sale.
Barcelona lost their key player Neymar Jr to Paris Saint Germain after his release clause was triggered and they are looking for a player to join in his stead. Reports have indicated that they see Coutinho as the ideal man to replace his out-gone compatriot.
Coutinho had put pen to paper on a five-year deal for Liverpool in January and Gerrard has made bare his mind regarding the ongoing transfer saga.
“This is not a situation where Liverpool need money or need to cash in. He said on BT Sport on Tuesday
“We are not a selling club so they will do everything in their powers for him to stay.
“But it comes down to Phillippe Coutinho and his decision, what he is prepared to do, what type of war he is going to create to get out because Liverpool won’t make it easy for him.
“I pray he is at Liverpool [at the end of transfer window].”
The team of Klopp has been built around Philippe Coutinho and if he’s taken away from the club, they are sure to struggle in the League.
