Going up against a strong defender in the Premier League is a big worry for many attackers and forward and Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard is not immune.
The Chelsea playmaker has praised Liverpool’s defender Virgil van Dijk, describing him as “one of the best in the world.”
Hazard has been exceptional for the Blues this campaign and has been hugely tipped to hit and go beyond the 20-goal mark this season.
The Belgian has been a huge influence in Sarri’s squad and proved that yet again in their Europa League group clash with Hungarian side Vidi on Thursday.
Chelsea for the bulk of the night struggled to find the back of the net of their visitors.
However an Hazard substitution few minutes before the hour mark made sure the Blues maintained their 100 percent start in the Europa League.
Few days earlier, the Blues welcomed Liverpool to Stamford Bridge, after knocking the Reds out of the League Cup at Anfield. The tussle to come out on top again was fierce despite opening (Hazard) the scoring for Chelsea.
Liverpool refused to budge and cannoned enough threats to cause a stumble in Chelsea’s backline in the last minutes of the game, to nick in an equaliser.
Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool’s world record signing played an important role in that match, thwarting and curbing threats from Hazard.
Speaking about his (Dijk) role in the clash, Hazard told SPORTbible, “Virgil van Dijk since last year is one of the best in the world for sure
“To play against him last Saturday, I can tell he is one of the best and he’s still young also.”
