Arsene Wenger has put the Gunners through paces in his semi-final game as the manager of the club ahead of their Premier League game with Leicester City. A notable presence in the Gunners training was long-term injury absentee Santi Cazorla, who has returned to full training and continues to regain full fitness.
Arsenal will be hosted by the Foxes at the King Power Stadium but the game is merely ceremonial as a win or draw will not affect their place on the Premier League log.
Santi Cazorla has been on the sidelines since the October of 2016 with an Achilles injury but he was spotted in training with the rest of the squad ahead of Wednesday’s game. While the diminutive Spaniard is brewing to play before the close of the season, Arsene Wenger revealed that he will not feature the midfielder.
Notable absentees from the Gunners squad were Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil and Mohamed Elneny.
Koscielny ruptured his Achilles and has undergone surgery – he will not be back until December at best. Ozil drew controversy to himself after he withdrew from the Gunners squad the thumped Burnley last weekend but it appears that he will not be back for this season.
Arsenal new boy Mavropanos was present in training and he was captured showing glimpses of defensive prowess.
