There are contrasting reports spreading across the interweb about the Thomas Lemar to Arsenal transfer that we just have to stand akimbo, as we watch the drama unfold.

It is no news that Arsenal have had several bids turned down by their French counterpart Monaco, as Arsene Wenger continues to drag his feet over the deal, in a bid to secure a ‘bargain price’ for the Lemar, but it now looks as though they have shot themselves in the foot this time.

Skysports are reporting that Barcelona have entered the race for the French attacker, and the report goes on to say that they are keenly interested as well. The Catalans have some cash to burn after they sealed a mouth-watering deal in the region of £198 million in exchange for Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.

In truth, Arsenal stand no chance if this report happens to be true, but we can as well take solace in the report by the Sun who are indeed optimistic that Arsenal are still in talks with the Principality club for Lemar. It is said that they are insisting on £50 million(€55million) which is a quarter of what Barcelona got; a major concern for Arsenal.

However, should Arsenal go on seal this deal, here’s how Lemar will look in a mock upr red and white Arsenal jersey.

Lemar’s contract with Monaco runs until the summer of 2020, which makes the French club in full control here; A stark contrast from what is obtainable with the Alexis Sanchez’ contract situation at Arsenal.

Should the 21-year-old eventually join Arsenal, it remains to be seen whether he would be a replacement for Sanchez or an addition to the squad. However, I guess the Arsenal fans won’t bother over the eventual outcome though.

Only time will tell.
