Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow in their quest to land Dutch rising star Justin Kluivert, after reports indicated that the player has agreed a deal to join Roma in the Seria A, with medical schedule for today.
Kluivert won the admiration of Jose Mourinho in the penultimate season when Man United beat Ajax to win the Europa Cup. It was claimed in the January transfer window that United were frontrunners for his signature, but the player dismissed the possibility of leaving the Eredivisie club.
Since making his debut for Ajax in the January of 2017 in their 1–3 away win against PEC Zwolle, Kluivert has seen his stock ever on the increase. Nonetheless, Man United may have missed out on signing the sensational silky winger and may have to turn their attention elsewhere to sign a rising star.
According to the Mirror, Kluivert will undergo a medical with Roma today ahead of a £17.6million deal. A picture of the youngster star in Roma has been a circulation and this certainly is a confirmation that he will be playing for Roma next season.
Former Barcelona coach Patrick Kluivert and the father of the star reckons that he will still support the decision of the player.
“I personally said to him maybe it’s better to stay one more year at Ajax, to make some kilometres to be important for the team,” Kluivert said.
“He’s 19 years old. He’s still young but he makes his own decisions, and as a dad, I have to stand behind all the decisions that he makes.
“It looks like he’s going to leave Ajax. I think it’s 90 percent sure that he’s going away.
“If he’s got the feeling to leave then he’s got to do that, but he needs to know what things are coming on his way.”
