The Arsenal fan base were greeted with the bitter report of Alexandre Lacazette’s knee surgery on Tuesday but the France striker has take to social to thank fans for their support, and he’s assured all Gunners that he will work hard to return to the pitch on time, according to report.
Following the ineligibility of new boy Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to star in the Europa Cup, Lacazette was tipped to proof his critiques wrong against Ostersunds in the Europa League on Thursday but sadly, he has been ruled out of action for up six weeks.
It is said that he will miss up to nine games including the back to back clash with Osterund, the Carabao Cup final game against Manchester City and other League games.
While the fans of Arsenal are ruing his absence as he is a good option or back for Aubameyang, Lacazette took to his official Instagram page to post an update.
In a post on Instagram, Lacazette wrote: “Thank you everyone for your messages. I will not on the pitch for few weeks because I feel pain on my knee.
“The surgery went well. A good recovery before coming back stronger.”
Lacazette joined Arsenal in the summer as their record signing with the pedigree of a prolific goal scorer but his form has turned downward and many fans have criticised him.
The French forward missed two glorious chances as the Gunners sought to come back against the Lilywhites in the NLD last week. Typical with Arsene Wenger, he has blamed the player’s poor form on the knee injury.
He told beINSPORTS: “Lacazette had knee surgery and he won’t be available for the Europa League game unfortunately.
“He got a surprising swell of the knee after the game against Tottenham and he needed surgery very quick. He’ll be out for the next four to five weeks.
“It’s a massive blow for us and we have to find a solution and nobody could predict that.
“Football does unpredictable things and it’s always a good opportunity for someone to step in and do well.
“Lacazette is down. I think he recently must have felt something in his knee.
“Maybe that’s an explanation as to why he wasn’t scoring as many goals as he’s used to.”
