There is an interesting ongoing battle in this transfer window, and it appears to between Manchester United and Chelsea. The Blues got the better of the former in the League but the Red Devils have scored more point in the transfer front – the imminent Man United deal for Lukaku has left Chelsea fans exasperated.

Chelsea and Manchester United have been credited with interest for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez but the Blues are preparing a £53million (€60m) for the attacker, per recent reports.

Following his downward descent in the selection perking order of Zinedine Zidane, Rodriguez has been strongly linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu, with Paris Saint Germain, Manchester United and Chelsea keen on the player.

However, Spanish newspaper Don Balon have claimed that Chelsea are willing fork out the player’s valuation perked at £53m by Los Blancos. This will see them pip their arch rivals Man United.

Antonio Conte is unhappy over the inactivities of Chelsea in the transfer window and he is keen on bolstering his squad ahead of next season. He had made Romelu Lukaku a priority target, with the Belgian obviously preferring an Old Trafford move, Conte is forced to quickly wrap up a deal for Rodriguez.

According to Don Balon, Chelsea are frontrunners for Rodriguez’s signature but the player has set his heart on a switch to Old Trafford. The agent of Rodriguez, Jorge Mendes is said to be pushing for a deal for his client away from Madrid.

Given the style of Chelsea, Rodriguez will flourish more at Man United if he plays from the flank or behind the striker.
