Arsenal tail Chelsea closely on the Premier League log. Their bounce back after a shocking loss to Southampton a fortnight ago, meant they couldn’t be erased in their ambitions to finish in the top four.
But injuries could tear their hopes. They have eaten deep into the Gunners defence and, despite an impressive show-off against Cardiff, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang getting his name twice on the scoreboard, Unai Emery is aware he needs to bolster his backline.
Gunners target Fernando Calero was spotted in London, fuelling speculations of a likely move in January.
Calero has been on the Gunners radar this campaign after he was sounded out to be available by Real Valladolid.
Arsenal have been forced to play Swiss Granit Xhaka in the centre in this campaign after Rob Holding suffered a terrible knock and has yet to recover.
However, it would be a tedious process for the Gunners. Haggling in transfer windows especially in the mid-season is difficult. “But I think it is a good option.” Confessed Emery.
Calero will cost the Gunners around 10 million pounds and since he was sighted in London, he has got fans swooning in expectations for his arrival in January.
Arsenal though, are not the only topflight team chasing after the player. Borussia Dortmund are keen, including Spanish side Sevilla.
