Phillipe Coutinho to Barcelona – Latest update

Barcelona are not relenting in their efforts to lure Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho to the Nou Camp this summer.

Coutinho played a key role for Liverpool last season as they secured a top-four finish and returned to the Champions League. He formed an attacking trio with fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino and Saido Mane, and his performances have put him on the radar of Barcelona in the last few months.

The Brazil international is wanted by the Spanish giants as a long-term successor for Andres Iniesta and it appears the Reds midfielder has moved a step closer to joining Barcelona, following reports that he has agreed personal terms with the Catalans, with only the transfer fee left to be agreed on.

There are reports that Barca are ready to offer the Merseysider £80 million for the influential midfielder but Jurgen Klopp wants Coutinho at Anfield next season and has always maintained that he is not for sale.

However, it is also being reported that an offer of £89 million, including Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic moving the other way could tempt Klopp to sell Coutinho.

According to Spanish media outlet Diario Gol, Barcelona are willing to include Rakitic as part of the deal, following reports credited to Liverpool some months back that the Croatia international inclusion could get Barcelona their target.

Coutinho scored 17 goals and assisted another eight for Liverpool last season and signed a new contract with them.
