Philippe Coutinho to Man United decided by Barcelona, playmaker exiting Old Trafford

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has been offered to La Liga champions Barcelona.

Mata is running on the last leg on his contract and has yet to pen a new deal with United.

Representatives from Mata’s camp have reportedly offered the former Chelsea midfielder to Barcelona.

Reports floating about in Spain say the Catalans see Mata as a replacement for fumbling Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho has yet to find his footing this campaign at the Nou Camp, and has many at the Nou Camp worried.

Manager Ernesto Velverde had earlier left him out of his starting XI, preferring to play Frenchman Ousmane Dembele instead.

Mata could command a fee less than the 37 million pounds splurged on him from Chelsea five years ago.

The player will walk for a free at the end of the season if United fail to extend his stay. However, should United remain keen about making profit on his sale, the Red Devils could trigger a one-year contract on the 31-year-old.

Coutinho commands a sum north of a 100 million pounds, and his flagging performance caused a terrible disturb.

Nonetheless, Barcelona will chose to stick with the star for the main time, despite listening to offers for Juan Mata, claims Mundo Deportivo.

Coutinho showed flickers of his old-self in their Sunday 2-0 victory over Genoa, a performance that could see him remain in Velverde’s side for now.
