Manchester United have a long standing interest in Croatian and Inter Milan attacker Ivan Perisic but they have been drawn into a transfer saga for the player following the Nerrazzuri’s resolve to hold on to the player despite the player’s desire to switch Club.
The Red Devils had offered two bids for Perisic, with the latest being £44million but it was rebuffed by the San Siro giants who are holding out for £50million for the attacker.
Jose Mourinho has sounded out to the proprietors of Man United that he will be needing two more signings ahead of the upcoming season but he has been left frustrated over the Club’s inability to complete a deal for the 28-year-old winger.
Perisic is currently on tour with Inter Milan but the San Siro outfit’s technical director Walter Sabatini revealed on Thursday that Man United are yet make the right offers for the player.
However, there is an increasing belief that the deal will soon by sealed by Jose Mourinho’s men after Italian transfer expert Palmeri claimed that he thinks the deal will go through, as reported by Express sport.
Palmeri said: “If I had to bet, I think Perisic will move to Manchester United this summer.
“But you must remember, everything can change in 24 hours. That’s something people should always keep in mind.
“Take Willian, for example. He was in a room signing for Tottenham at 6am, then at midnight he signed for Chelsea.
“It’s not only about the player, it’s about how flexible the club is to selling them. Sometimes it’s firm one day then, the day after, it’s off because other parameters change. It should always be kept in mind that one negotiation is linked to other negotiations.”
During the days of Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, his conquest of the Premier League was hinged on wing play that sees his team play counter attacks, with the wingers effectively delivering crosses for the attacker. Perisic made 197 crosses from open play in the Seria A last term, which is more than any player in the EPL. Romelu Lukaku is bound to thrive with the player.
