Manchester United and France midfielder Paul Pogba is set to learn from experience defensive midfielders including Michael Carrick on how to play beautifully as a defensive midfielder.
During his time at Juventus, the Frenchman was known for his attacking prowess at the middle of the park for the Old Lady. His pin-point passes to the strikers were second to none in Maximiliano Allegri’s team. These attributes endeared him to Manchester United who broke the world’s record for his signature in 2016-17 season.
Moving to Manchester United, the midfielder was one of the players who light up the League with their commanding performances at the midfield position, but this season has been a bittersweet experience for the Frenchman as he was converted to an unfamiliar role.
In his bid to accommodate Alexis Sanchez in his starting lineup, Manchester United manager José Mourinho moved his trusted midfielder back to a defensive role while the Chilean forward who joined the Red Devils from Arsenal, was deployed to the attacking midfield position.
This move from Mourinho hasn’t only reduced Pogba’s creativity but also creates a misunderstanding between the coach and the player.
According to Sky Sports, the Frenchman is ready to improve his ability as holding midfielder as he hopes to justify the price paid by United for his service ahead of next season. The player is currently out of action due to minor illness but he is expected to be back to training ground before Saturday.
