The 2017/2018 Premier League season kicks off with a game between Arsenal and Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium tonight. On paper, Arsenal are favourites for the three points but this is the Premier League and anything can happen.
Arsenal have a knack for losing their League opener but coming off the pre-season games and the Community Shield with wins, the Gunners must be brewing with much confidence ahead of the game.
Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League on the backdrop of a fifth place finish in the League last term but Arsene Wenger is poised to silence his critiques and bring back the glory days for the Gunners.
Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil missed the Gunners Community Shield game while Mertesacker picked up a facial injury in the game. Wenger revealed that the trio are back in full training and are available for selection.
Alexis Sanchez returned to training late after an extended break but the Chilean sustained an abdominal injury and he has been ruled out for up to three weeks.
“Sanchez will not be available,” Wenger told reporters in a press conference on Wednesday.
“He had a little abdominal strain that he caught on Sunday morning in training. He had the scan two days ago. He’s out for I don’t know how long.”
Francis Conquelin is expected to back after two weeks and he joins long term absentees Santi Cazorla and Gabriel Paulista who are yet on the recovery pane.
Laurent Koscielny will not be taking part in this following the Red card he received in the game against Leicester City.
Meanwhile, this is how we think Arsenal will line-up against Leicester City.
