Jose Mourinho wants to win the Premier League title again in his third spell in the English top-flight. The Manchester United boss had won it three times with Chelsea in two different spells and saw his former employers won it again last season.
In the light of that, he is keen to add more depth to his squad and have signed three players already this summer. United signed Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku earlier in the transfer window but stalled with no new signing forthcoming.
However, the Portuguese boss was finally able to land Nemanja Matic from Chelsea this week and one more player could still join at Old Trafford.
Mourinho has reiterated his desire to sign a winger before the end of the window. The United manager is interested in signing Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic and has been chasing him all summer.
Inter have been playing hardball as far as the transfer is concerned and are holding out a fee in the region of £50 million, which United considered to be on the high-side.
But with Mourinho desperate to add the Croatian to his team at Old Trafford, a swap deal could be brokered that would see Anthony Martial move to Inter Milan.
There are reports that the Italian giants would demand for Martial to be included in a player-plus-cash deal that would see Perisic move to Old Trafford. But it remains to be seen if United will agree to the deal.
Perisic would be United fourth signing of the summer if he moves. He scored 11 goals and provided a further 11 assists for Inter last season.
