Arsenal boss Unai Emery has revealed Arsenal are still in the market for new signings, according to reports.
The Gunners attack and defence has become thread bare following long term injuries to Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin, Danny Welbeck and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. If Arsenal must push for a top four place, they must strengthen their thin squad.
Denis Suarez has remained top choice for Arsenal but complications have arisen in negotiations for the player and it appears as though he will remain a Barcelona player after the January transfer window.
Suarez played under Emery while in Sevilla and the Spanish manager wants to deploy him on the flank for Arsenal.
While the The Telegraph, reports that the deal isn’t off yet, there are so many uncertainty regarding this deal.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s defence is one of the weakest in the League but the return of Laurent Koscielny and Mavropanos means they are unlikely going to sign a new centre-back.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal FA Cup clash against Manchester United, Emery said:
“We only want to sign one or two players who can really help us with good performances,” Emery is quoted as saying by The Telegraph.
“The club is working. They know our intentions, our possibilities for signing players that can help us.”
Emery has relatively done well this season given the quality of players at his disposal and the calibre of signings he made in the summer. However, if the club does not support him in the transfer window then they are setting him up for failure.
