The need for defensive reinforcement at Manchester United is apparent and it may not be too long before the Red Devils bolster their thin defensive units.
A few days ago, the Sun reported that Man United submitted a bid for their transfer target Victor Lindof, it now appears that a deal is already in the offing for the versatile Swedish centre back following United’s agreement to pay his price tag of €45m, according to this report.
Lindolf ascended the grades of Benfica and signed a professional contract with the Portuguese club in 2011 but his breakthrough season started last season when he starred in 15 League games for them. However, this season, he has established himself as first choice, playing as right or centre-back.
He was on the radar of Manchester United in the January transfer window but the Red Devils showed more interest than intent at that time. O Jogo claims that United had their scout watched Lindolf in Benfica’s 2-1 over Estoril over the weekend.
Man United are second best in the Premier League in terms of goals conceded despite the number of defenders sidelined with injury, to consolidate on his otherwise strong defensive unit, Mourinho may not turn a blind eye to a player like Lindolf.
Albeit the summer is far ahead off, it is difficult not to see Man United sign some players to improve upon the team that Mourinho currently has.
